# eth\_getTransactionByBlockNumberAndIndex

POST `https://mainnet.valuechain.xyz`

Returns the transaction at an index in a block identified by number or tag.

## Parameters

| Name    | Type            | Required | Description                                                                                                                                                                                              |
| ------- | --------------- | -------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `block` | quantity or tag | Yes      | Hex block number, or `earliest`, `latest`, `safe`, `finalized`, or `pending`. See [block tags](/documentation/for-developers/developers/valuechain-evm/differences-from-ethereum.md#consensus-finality). |
| `index` | quantity        | Yes      | Transaction index.                                                                                                                                                                                       |

## Result

**Transaction** (object or null): Transaction object, or `null` if the index is out of range.
